Fuel is available at Tokanui Monday to Friday 8 am to 6pm. Fortrose also has fuel. They are open from about 9am to 5 pm 7 days a week at Stirling Tides.
Many of our guests like to prepare their own meals here. We suggest getting your ingredients in a bigger town like Invercargill or Balclutha. Our nearest dairy is 12 minutes’ drive away.
There are many options around the area which include:
Fortrose: Stirling Tides is a café open during the day and overlooks the estuary. Then Pukeko Alley has a dairy as well as an art studio.
Tokanui: There is a dairy there and also the pub. The pub has a bistro open Thursday to Sunday in the evenings but also do a great toasted sandwich at the bar during opening hours.
Curio Bay: There is a shop at the camping ground
Waikawa: The blue cod blues caravan is open in the main tourist season. Very sort after by the locals for a great feed of fish and chips.
Niagara: This has a café and restaurant. Great coffees, hospitality and of course, great food.
We are located on the Coastal scenic route and on the last unsealed 14km of road on this route. If you are unfamiliar with gravel roads, here are some tips. Travel at the speed you are comfortable driving. If you find you are holding up traffic, pull over in a safe place and let them past. This stretch of road is due to be sealed this year, until then - please travel safe. Don’t be put off by the gravel - it is worth the drive.
REMEMBER - KEEP LEFT, KEEP SAFE
If you would like to find out what the weather forecast while you’re traveling in the Catlin’s, then we suggest looking up www.metservice.co.nz.
Tokanui has a district nurse available Monday through to Friday from 9am to 12 noon. If you are unwell, they are there to help you. If they are unable to help then Invercargill’s Kew Hospital A&E are open 24 hours a day. For emergencies in New Zealand you phone 111. Please let us know if you are unwell and we will try to assist you to get the right help.
